About Me

I’m Eric, a fifth-year student in computer science and economics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. My main interests are in applying data science and geomatics tools to solve problems in earth science, sustainability, and urban planning. I’m also a systems programmer, security enthusiast, and free software advocate, regularly competing in CTF competitions and contributing to several open source projects.

I currently work as an Quantitative Research Assistant at UBC’s Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions under Professor Laura Nelson, using Python data science tools to analyze social media discourse relating to climate change disinformation. Before that, I worked as an Advanced Research Assistant at UBC’s Vancouver School of Economics, before that as a GIS Developer at the Department of National Defence, and before even that as a Geomatic Software Engineer at Xtract One. In my free time I enjoy hiking, skiing, and rock climbing in the beautiful Lower Mainland with UBC’s Varsity Outdoor Club.

This is my personal website, perpetually under construction. If you like my work here, consider supporting it with a small donation on ko-fi! This site is ad-free and social-media-free and uses open-source privacy-respecting analytics.
